The Graduate

Just a few nostalgic images from my recent pharmacy school graduation....

I wore a red dress, white heels, earrings from my bestie, and Harry Potter-inspired regalia. After the ceremony, my family came to our new home for lunch,  celebrating and good conversation. The weekend was perfect, but oh so bitter sweet.

Back to School Basics

Although the summer heat is still in full effect, I can't help but begin thinking about dressing for fall. With school beginning and summer coming to a close, I am growing weary of sundresses and denim shorts and would much rather opt for one of these pieces. Whether you are going back to university or continuing on your workday, these pieces will take you into fall with flawless style.

Alma Mater

I don't venture to Decatur very often these days, but whenever I do, I make sure to stop in and say hello to the place where I spent some of the best years of my life... my Alma Mater, Agnes Scott College.

The beautiful brick buildings and enormous history behind the school never cease to fill my heart with a bit of awe and a bittersweet nostalgia. Thinking of all of the women who were shaped by their time here and who have gone on to do incredible things is so wonderfully inspiring. Just stepping onto campus brings it all back....

I still remember the way that I felt the first time I walked through the gates. I was moving into the dorms, and I was simultaneously scared to death and excited beyond belief. The future before me was absolutely limitless, and I really felt like I could accomplish anything. I remember that feeling so well, and I am still proud to be a part of such a wonderful, inspiring group of extraordinary women.

saturday night lights

i have a confession to make....

i love college football
{don't judge}

i know it's not the most fashionable of hobbies,
but there's something really exciting about a college town on game day.
everyone is grilling great food, laughing loudly, playing games...
the energy is the air is tangible,
and the excitement is contagious.

this past saturday, husband and i met up with some friends
to celebrate another year of georgia football.

this group of fans went all out.
notice the paint job on the van... bulldog colors.
i would even go so far as to call them professional tailgaters.
they've clearly done this a few times before.

i think it is such a wonderful tradition that the georgia girls dress up for games.
girls at most other schools, especially non-sec schools,
wear jeans and tees and tennies to the games.
not at uga.
the vast vast majority of ladies are decked out in skirts and dresses
and fancy flats and sandals.

since i never wear red and black together in "real" life,
i honestly struggled with what to wear to the game.
it was a bit strange for me,
as this outfit is one that i would never wear outside the stadium.
however, i am really looking forward to the cooler games,
so i can wear my adorable black and grey wool dress
with bright red tights!

what did you do this weekend, my lovelies?

schoolhouse rocks

tree lover graphite pencils from see jane work

it's that time of year again when my life gets lost in the world of academia,
when reading textbooks takes priority over reading novels,
saturdays are spent at coffee shops with notebooks instead of girlfriends,
and a bouquet of freshly sharpened pencils adorns my desk.

among my favorite things about the return to academia
is the search for office supplies.
{everything from notebooks and binders to desk organization}
here are some of my favorites for this school season.

from see jane work:
animal cube notepad

thomas paul filing accessories

i am not a paper cup

magnetic birdie

from etsy:
cameo push pins from regansbrian

anemones folder by puncontrollable
{i'm such a nerd; i know.}

vintage train case by getreadysetgo
{perfect for office storage/organization}

even when my world no longer revolves around the academic calendar,
fun, unique office supplies will always make me smile.
happy return-to-school, my lovelies.
