Life, Lately

Since coming home from Wyoming, life has been moving at warp speed with little to no breathing room. I feel like it's been a whirlwind of working, managing a household, taking care of a babe, and (not enough) sleep. On a happy note, today is my Thursday since I have a long weekend coming up, and I just. cannot. wait! I have so many recipes and DIYs I want to share with you, and I'm itching to start some holiday decorating and make some paleo peppermint hot chocolate. Yes, you read that right, but let me just repeat... paleo peppermint hot chocolate.

Here's a little peek into our trip to Wyoming and the last week of craziness.

{my happy little reindeer! this kid is so awesome, you guys.}

 {my boss brought us bags of apples from the north Georgia apple orchard - score!}

{I could hike all day in the beautiful Wind River Range.}

 {We had the best burgers & sandwiches on gluten-free buns in Jackson.}

A Weekend in Pictures 03

I just never want our weekends to end. The moments we spend as a family, the lower stress level my husband and I feel, not constantly rushing here and there and worrying about messing up Elliot's sleep patterns in the process. Weekends provide so much more room to breathe. So I have officially decided that weekends should last five days and the workweek should only last two. I'd even compromise to a four day weekend and three day workweek. Any suggestions on how to go about getting that changed? ;)

This weekend was especially fun since we took E camping for the first time. I have to say though, that things definitely did not go as planned. Between the rain, wet ground, unseasonably warm daytime weather and a babe who wouldn't nap, it was a little rough. We will probably wait until the spring for our next trip when E will hopefully be walking. Nonetheless, it was a good weekend and one that I am sad to leave behind.

Here's to never ending weekends, or at least dreaming of them!

Elliot West // One Month

{better late than never}
ONE MONTH...

When Elliot was born I think I hear the phrase 'don't blink' about a hundred times, and despite the cliche, I have to say it's so. so. true. I feel like I turned around and he was already a month old. Those first days of sleep deprivation and figuring out how to take care of a newborn went by in such a blur, and now I want them back. It is so hard but so rewarding. And this sweet little life has changed mine forever.

Baby Talk // Birth Announcements

Since we didn't send out announcements that we were expecting a little addition to our family, we have decided to send birth announcements to our close family and friends. {This year our Christmas card somewhat pulled double duty, breaking the tiny news to those who hadn't yet heard.} I absolutely love getting announcements from my friends and leave them on our refrigerator indefinitely, so sharing our news with loved ones is important to us. From what I hear, we will have plenty of pictures to choose from since we will be snapping away his first weeks of life. I plan on having K shoot some pictures of the little man, and we may even hire someone to do a short family session. Either way, here are a few of the announcements I've liked thus far.

Did you send out birth announcements? If so, what site did you use to design them?
Suggestions are more than welcome!

Adventure is Calling

Husband shared this video with me the other day, and I just can't stop watching. The amazing beauty of this world is so breathtaking, and I am so grateful to be able to enjoy the vast creation of our God.

Life Lens

Life lately has meant long days at work, busy weeks, lazy {but productive} weekends, small projects around the house, afternoon espresso, the last few fires of winter, puppy feet warmers, and delicious weekend brunch (made by husband).

Inspire Me

One of my favorite things about this season of new beginnings is the feeling of freshness and endless possibilities. We all need a clean slate every now and then, and a new year is the perfect time to make transitions. And while I'm not attached to the idea of resolutions per se, I am a fan of seeking inspiration wherever it can be found... in the home, in the great outdoors, through a conversation, through a picture, for your home, for yourself. Here are some of my current inspirations.
