Weekends + Wishlists

Lately I've been compiling a small list of items that I would love to own. Husband and I didn't do anything for each other for our birthdays this year or for our anniversary, so I am thinking a few select gifts may be in order for the Christmas season. Also, considering the fact that last year every single gift I received (not exaggerating!) was for Elliot, a couple indulgences would be nice. Here is a carefully curated list of lovely things that would make excellent gifts, in my opinion:

This Pendelton blanket is at the top of my list. I have been wanting one for years now, and since we are finally at a somewhat finished place with our master bedroom renovations, it may be time to invest. The one I originally wanted is no longer available in the size we need, but I really like the pattern of this one as well. 

These grey and white striped napkins would be nice. We don't use paper towels too much in our house, but I'd like to limit our use even more by having some lovely but practical cloth napkins on hand.

A few new linen kitchen towels would be nice as well (perhaps this one, this one and this one). Because I typically buy white ones, but they become discolored too quickly, and honestly it's time to do some replacing. (But don't worry. Those old, discolored towels will be disinfected and transformed into dust rags and baby wipes.)

And maybe one of these lovely trays... to corral the random items on our coffee table and because I have a soft spot for trays

This stain remover bar. I am a recovering Tide pen-aholic, but since removing chemicals, etc from our home, I haven't looked back. Nonetheless, this is a great thing to have on hand, especially when the tiny being in your house has a penchant for spilling your coffee on the beige sofa.

A pair of short, colorful rain boots. Because they are practical.. and cute.

A pretty pair of kitchen scissors and a magnetic knife block. 

And if we are dreaming big.... this beautiful essential oil organizer.

Professional Portfolio

My professional wardrobe wishlist is honestly pretty extensive. Not surprising considering that dressing up five days a week is something I've been doing for quite a while now, but I've had only a limited amount {namely $0} to spend on decent wardrobe updates. A few key items on my list include skirts (well-fitting, colorful pencil skirts, feminine silhouettes), a nice watch, an overtly girly dress, and comfortable wedges.

Fitness and Fashion

A little while ago I mentioned that my quickly upcoming graduation, licensing and employment will allow for some adult purchases that have been on my wishlist for quite some time. Now that we're under contract on a house (!!!) and I legitimately need a decent professional wardrobe, I've started to compile slightly more comprehensive sets of items that I hope to add to our house and to my closet in the near future*.

Nice yoga and running clothes are at the top of my wishlist. I'm super excited about the fact that there are multiple yoga studios near my pharmacy!

*I know that these posts will make me sound incredibly materialistic, but that is honestly not the case. I've made some decisions lately that will affect my clothing purchases from here on out, but I won't go into detail there. Just know that although these posts are highlighting worldly, material things, I certainly don't need them to be happy.

So, my friend and talented author of this blog asked me to guest post for her while she's trapped away at camp-- with no internet and limited access to phone-- (poor girl. Nothing about that sounds appealing). I'm Ashley, from Kindredly, and if you read my blog, you know that my blog is nothing like HiS....and this has me a little....nervous.

HiS is chock full of all things I love...and would love to write so eloquently about, but it's physically impossible for me to do so. I don't know if I'm just not as sweet as our author or what.... Either way, I'm going to try to make you readers happy and live up to your expectations.

I've done nothing but agonize over today's topic because I highly doubt you care to hear about my hectic day at the office. I can write a novel about my hectic days at the office. I have desk to forehead contact daily, people.

Just as I thought I'd have to let everyone down and not post at all, I found a new Steve Madden email in my inbox gearing up for fall and advertising new styles. Since a lot of this blog is devoted to fashion and how to look awesome on a budget, I decided to share a few of my favorites from the new fall collection (along with one pair that's on sale...woo!).
I love, love, love these booties, and they must become part of my shoe collection now. I'm a sucker for nude because I have really short legs, and from my experience, nude shoes elongate short, stubby legs and transform them into long, sexy stems.
I'd have to see these on my feet because some of these shoes look like stripper shoes when you actually get them on. Again, I gravitated toward the neutral, but this shoe also comes in black.
Sale: $50. I've been throwing around the idea of wearing flats. If you know me personally, you know that I wear heels almost 100% of the time (it's summer now, so I'm typically in dresses or skirts and flip flops). In college, my uniform was quite unfortunate and consisted of tattered jeans, a sorority/fraternity t-shirt and stilettos. I will have zero use of my knees by the time I'm 50, fo sho. I'm thinking if I'm going to start experimenting with flats, they better be pointy to help with the short leg issue. The studded detail on the back helps too.
