Lately, Around Here...

birthdays, lunch with sweet families, trail races, puppy dog cuddles, birthday carrot cake, black coffee, spiced tea & cool afternoons reading on the porch...

This has been a busy and slightly stressful week, if we're being honest, but one that is definitely going out with a bang. Yesterday was husband's birthday, so today we are headed up to the mountains for a weekend getaway. I've packed up three days worth of good food {complete with a couple of birthday treats}, lots of firewood and warm clothes, and a couple good books. We are looking forward to cold mornings with hot coffee, watching the sunrise on the side of the mountain, reading by the campfire in the afternoons, the beautiful colors of fall that can only be fully enjoyed in the midst of nature.

{Poor Sambo had his dewclaw removed but is now back to his normal adventurous self}

Wishing you a wonderful weekend.

InstaLife: Life Lens

The past couple months have been filled with fun highlights including a baby shower for my bestie {college roommate!}, a few hiking trips, a family reunion, brunch with friends, a much needed hair update {thanks mom!}, weekly yoga, sunsets with Sam, birthday parties for special littles, and lots of love.

Life Lens

Life lately has meant long days at work, busy weeks, lazy {but productive} weekends, small projects around the house, afternoon espresso, the last few fires of winter, puppy feet warmers, and delicious weekend brunch (made by husband).

Friday Favorites

Even though Monday was a holiday for us, this week felt impossibly long. So after a long, slow ten hour work day, I am ready for a low-key weekend at home. Hope yours is a wonderful one!

Life Lens

The past couple weeks have been a whirlwind of good and bad news, long work days, and home improvement projects. I feel like I've been on an emotional roller coaster, my heart breaking for one friend and rejoicing for another, small victories {a new deadlift personal best} and small frustrations {spilling coffee all down my white top}. It's good timing for a long weekend away. We're planning to spend the weekend with two of our closest friends, paddling on the ocean, running in a race, and eating delicious food {including a trip to this taco stand!}.

Hope you have a wonderful, refreshing weekend.

Life Lens

I am off work for the next few days {yay!!!} and will be taking some time to enjoy my family, friends and loved ones. Brunches, shopping dates, house projects, and lots of french press coffee are in my immediate future.
Wishing you a very merry New Year.

Life

October and November were somewhat tumultuous over here. Between growing career pressures and husband being out of town, it was honestly a little overwhelming. For two months we only saw each other on weekends, during which we tried to pack in home improvement projects, trail runs with Sambo, downtime on the porch, meals with our families, and all the little things that need to be done around a household. Let's just say that I'm glad December is here.

Here's a peak at what the last couple months looked like around our house....

We hired professionals to paint our vaulted-ceiling living and dining room, rearranged furniture and created a meaningful collage on the wall, hung garland for hosting Thanksgiving, and snuck in a little fun at the a Georgia v. Georgia Tech game. I had to work the day after Thanksgiving, and since we weren't busy, we put up a Christmas tree and decorated the store. That same day Sambo sneakily ate the stuffing out of his bed, and curled up by the fire with a full belly. Guess what he's getting for Christmas?

Good Things

September has brought slightly cooler temperatures to the south, with daily highs in the low 80s and lows in the low 60s. The days have been gorgeous and filled with just a hint of summer. I am overly excited for crisp fall days and the upcoming holiday season, but this Indian summer is oh so lovely. So as I feel the season coming to a close, I've been spending most of my time trying to soak up as much of the summer as possible.
Also, still obsessing over chambray. I'm obsessed this top. And this one isn't too shabby either.

Happy weekend.

Life in Motion: Moving

The past week and a half has been a complete whirlwind as husband and I packed up our little life and moved out to the country. While we will miss being close to Atlanta, we can at least be together all week instead of only on weekends. {Woot!} And we're only about 30 minutes from one of our favorite cities, Athens. {Fun facts: our first real date was in Athens, where we saw what would become my favorite band. Also, we were married in a lovely historic home in Athens.} So, I apologize for my unexpected hiatus! {Apparently, it takes two to three weeks to set up new internet service with AT&T. Who knew?} I've been busy with boxes and totes, arranging, discarding, painting, and trying to get in a little down time in between. While I am getting back on schedule, here's a peek at the last two weeks of my life, according to my iPhone.

Packing, painting, and unpacking; a little mountain biking adventure to get out some stressful energy;
I've been living in these green cords; we grilled some delicious kabobs; we took a trip to our favorite burrito place in Athens; the bare walls are starting to look a bit better....

More {fun things} to come.
