Sweet Sweet Sui

Anna Sui has been among my favorite designers since about middle school. I simply adore the mix of feminine and pattern in her work, and I feel great wearing the pieces she creates. Working at Anthropologie during college was almost torturous since I couldn't bring myself to splurge on any her beautiful dresses at that time. Fortunately, however, I have grown up a bit since my 19 year-old retail days. Although this top is from her Gossip Girl-inspired Target line, it is still as precious to me as the silk dresses that it hangs beside.

sweet sweet sui

Queen of vintage-inspired designs, Anna Sui, is creating a line for Target's GO! International collection. The Sui designs, inspired by Gossip Girl characters Blair, Jenny, Serena, and Vanessa, will be available in stores and online beginning September 13.

I have to say that when I first heard the news I was ecstatic. Anna Sui has long been among my favorite designers, and I can't deny my love for GG; however, after seeing the lookbook, I am honestly a bit disappointed. I am sure that a few of the garments will find their way in to my closet, but I fear that the actual product won't hold up to the grandiose idea from which it was inspired.

Still, I can't help but crave the Serena-inspired silver dress, those Vanessa Frye-like boots, and the Jenny-esque black booties. Sigh. I am so ready for fall.

Better Late than Never

So, I know that I am months behind the Spring RTW Fashion shows, but honestly, it's really hard for me to look forward to spring until after Christmas. (Good thing I don't work in retail.) Now that the season has ended, and Christmas decorations have found their home in plastic totes, I can look forward to the lovely patterns and colors of spring. Some of my favorite places to look?

Anna Sui for bold colors and fun patterns.

Richard Chai for interesting texture and color combinations.

Nanette Lepore for distinctly feminine silhouettes.

Marc Jacobs for, well, just being Marc Jacobs.

Now, if only the humid, rainy excuse for winter in Georgia would make way for sunny, spring days...
